We are thrilled to share some remarkable news with all of you, our esteemed members and partners – Optical Academy, the nation’s leading onsite eye care company, has been honored with the prestigious New York City’s Service in Action Community Partner award at the 2023 Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony!
This recognition is a testament to the incredible impact we’ve made during one of the most transformative years in our company’s history. In 2023, we provided vision screenings, eye exams, and eyeglasses to over 100,000 students across New York City through our partnership with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Department of Education. Our focused efforts were directed at schools with the highest rates of students in temporary housing, ensuring that these students received their eyeglasses on the same day through our state-of-the-art onsite mobile labs.
We are immensely proud of the Glasses 2 Classes program, which allows schools to book an onsite visit, providing their students with vision screenings, exams, and brand-new eyeglasses, all on the same day. Our mission is to offer an “in and out” experience, minimizing disruptions to the school day while maximizing the impact of our vision services. Our commitment to facilitating academic success through accessible eye care drives us forward.
As our Founder & CEO, Abby Ayoub, aptly put it, “Eye care is every student’s most important tool for academic success and it brings me the greatest honor to make this type of impact and walk the halls in the same school system that raised me.” Our heart swells with pride knowing that we have positively impacted the lives of countless students, empowering them with the gift of clear vision.
Furthermore, we are excited to announce that we are expanding our reach beyond New York City. We are partnering with states, cities, local municipalities, and organizations nationwide to extend the benefits of our Glasses 2 Classes program to even more students, bringing vision services directly to their schools.
But that’s not all; we remain dedicated to making eye care convenient and accessible to individuals in various settings. Our onsite services are also available to businesses and community organizations nationwide. We are collaborating with local eye care professionals to provide our onsite vision screenings, eye exams, and eyewear to communities nationally. Our vision teams are on a mission to help communities see and learn clearly, comfortably, and confidently, ensuring a brighter future for all.
